ICHARS JOURNEY

Why we started ICHARS?

Nitin Shah: “When I got into coaching and therapy, I noticed that there were certain major gaps that existing courses were not able to fulfill & at the same time I could recognise the power that HYPNOSIS has in terms of how it can be applied at coaching and therapy.

Two major limitations I noticed:

  1. Lack of structured approach to working with clients and applying techniques that participants learn in certification courses
  2. Training organisations offered little to no support to the participants.

The previous organisation that I was working with, wasn’t able to implement the ideas I had to address these issues. It was for this reason why we started ICHARS.”

Where did you think ICHARS would be in 10 years

Nitin Shah: As I said ICHARS started to fill in the gap in training programs being offered on coaching & therapy. My original understanding was that we would showcase our ideas and see how it goes from there.

I did not really think about 2 years let alone 10 years, having said that obviously, if we start something we do want it to sustain.

But yes, there were times when we felt we might not be able to get through some of the challenges. The good thing is we found a way.

One major challenge that ICHARS has faced

Nitin Shah: ” The major challenge is to manage the balance between growth and quality control. In the field that I am in growth means, we need to include more trainers, but the more trainers we include, the more difficult it becomes to maintain the quality.

But I think we are now at a place where we can balance these factors. We have been able to work on structures that will now allow us to bring in new trainers and yet manage and further enhance the quality.

The next few years would be very interesting for ICHARS and how quickly we scale up.”

One advice that you would give to yourself when you started?

Nitin Shah: “Just because you can do everything on your own you don’t need to do it.

There are places where it’s better to hire certain people to do certain things. Only because you can do it doesn’t mean that you need to invest your time in that.

There are other things where you can invest your time and effort in.”

When did we shift our courses online

Nitin Shah: “Within the initial 1st or 2nd years of ICHARS, we had already incorporated the concept of post-level online module for our diploma programs. Students had access to all techniques they practised in the class.

As the courses became more comprehensive, we incorporated mandatory pre-level online courses. Most concepts and theories were now being covered online.

And during the pandemic, we eventually shifted to a full-time online module. But that was more like a forced choice. a forced choice that I am very happy about now. The results have been so amazing that we are sticking to the online courses. We don’t plan to go back offline we the current courses.”

Something people don't know about ICHARS
ICHARS actually started as a result of a conversation I had with two of my friends and the follow-up discussion that I had with Yuvraj, who was my trainer, mentor and also head of the organisation I was working with. During one of the conversations about what we can do to improve the courses, he mentioned that “If you have such a clear idea about what you want to do why not set up an organisation of your own.” And I thought that’s a good idea.
Proudest Moment for ICHARS

Proudest Moment for ICHARS

Again there have been many memorable moments but if I have to pick one then it would be when we launched the ICHARS Centre at Aram Nagar, Versova, Mumbai.

I think that was a really big step for us and we had never done anything similar. That was a new experience for us.

Upcoming projects for ICHARS

When it comes to the upcoming projects we recently launched Visit MHP initiative, though it’s not strictly a part of ICHARS but ICHARS support Foundation.

But what we are doing at visit MHP wouldn’t have been possible without everything that we have learned in ichars and the work that we have done at ICHARS.

And the second project is an upcoming mobile application that we are working on. We have been able to create models from our course processes that can be used by people via an application to manage their thoughts, emotions and behaviours.

Lastly, we are also launching a couple of new programs. Student Counselling Certification is one of them. We have already conducted some trial runs and the feedback is very good.

Describe ICHARS in one sentence?
