Simply presenting concrete evidence that contradicts a client's limiting beliefs is often counterproductive because the client's beliefs may find ways to dismiss or distort the evidence in order to avoid contradicting their existing beliefs.
The difference between this technique and the previous one is that, in this one, the client explores the contrary evidence by themselves instead of the evidence being provided by the therapist.
